Responsibilities
As a First Officer, your primary responsibility is ensuring the safety and efficiency of flights while supporting the Captain. Key duties include:
Operations:
- Ensuring flight safety in a timely manner.
- Monitoring the flight path and aircraft systems.
- Performing checks and procedures before, during, and after flights.
- Navigating the aircraft and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including passengers.
- Assisting the Captain in upholding crew discipline and professionalism.

Pre-Flight:
- Reviewing the planned flight route, weather forecasts, and briefing sheets.
- Collaborating with the Captain on fuel selection and alternate aerodromes.
- Completing all pre-flight checks as outlined in the Operations Manual.
In-Flight:
- Executing normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists.
- Monitoring flight procedures, instruments, and indicators.
- Conducting R/T communications as required.
- Advising the Captain on any deviations, hazards, or abnormalities.
Post-Flight:
- Completing post-flight procedures per operational manuals.
- Submitting all required documentation and reports.
- Minimum Requirements
- To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Matric or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
- RSA Passport, driver’s license, and citizenship.
- Knowledge of SACAA, ICAO regulations, and Doc 8186.
- No criminal record; willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and willingness to sign training bonds.
