Job Overview

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Special Task Force (STF) is seeking qualified individuals to address the high attrition rate within the STF: Division of Visible Policing and Operations. This targeted recruitment is specifically for individuals with existing STF or equivalent military training (e.g., South African Special Forces). Successful candidates will be appointed as STF Operators/Members at the rank of Warrant Officer, with opportunities for higher ranks based on prior experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform duties as an STF Operator/Member
  • Engage in specialized tactical operations and missions
  • Ensure compliance with SAPS protocols and national security measures
  • Maintain physical fitness and firearm competency
  • Participate in refresher or conversion courses as required
  • Uphold the integrity and confidentiality of the SAPS

Requirements

  • Existing STF or equivalent military training (South African Special Forces)
  • Valid driver’s license and firearm competency
  • Compliance with National Instruction 18 of 2019 (Integrity Management)
  • Successful fitness and shooting evaluation
  • Successful completion of refresher or conversion courses
  • Confirmation of suitability for appointment

Acceptance of post/appointment and salary offer

Certificate of the unauthorized disclosure of information

Signing the Code of Conduct

Completing the WP1002 form

Nomination of beneficiaries (Death Grant)

Proof of registration with the South African Revenue Service (SARS)

Fingerprints and AFIS report from LCRC

Certificate from the Commander confirming no pending criminal/departmental cases or convictions at the time of resignation from the Service

Confirmation of acceptance of duty

Successful candidates will receive a formal appointment letter and are expected to start working within two months of employment offer. A scarce skills allowance is payable to qualifying employees.
