Rand Water is seeking six driven, hands-on Artisan Assistants to support the production of high-quality pipe specials and components that keep South Africa’s water network running smoothly. Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or relevant technical equivalent
• Minimum 1 year experience in a related industrial/mechanical environment
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks

Key Responsibilities

• Support operators with the fabrication of pipes and intricate pipe specials using designated machinery and tools
• Assist with marking, cutting, rolling, welding, cleaning, and overall preparation of materials
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas, including machine cleaning and article cleaning
• Participate in quality control, following ISO 9001:2015 standards
• Record production and article data accurately
• Assist artisans during manufacturing tasks
• Promote customer satisfaction by meeting quality and delivery expectations
• Perform mini-risk assessments and ensure adherence to OHS and environmental legislation

Knowledge & Competencies

Technical Knowledge

• Pipe fitting and assembly of complex pipe specials
• Understanding of welding/boilermaking equipment and processes
• Ability to work with centre lines and focal points on intricate components
• Knowledge of marking, cutting, rolling, and welding techniques

Skills

• Proper care and management of tools and equipment
• Strong awareness of quality, safety, and environmental standards
• Good communication skills (verbal & written)
• Effective reporting and documentation abilities
