Purpose of the Role
As a bakery ambassador for Shoprite, you play a key role in delighting customers with fresh, high-quality baked goods. You help maintain the Shoprite brand image by following all company standards, including health and safety rules, while producing a wide range of delicious bakery items. By carefully following recipes, production methods and display guidelines, you ensure customers enjoy a consistent and enjoyable bakery experience
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and produce high-quality baked products.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, food safety and health protocols.
Follow production plans and schedules to ensure efficient output.
Drive sales and minimise waste.
Ensure customers are satisfied with all bakery products.
Train and guide bakery assistants and new bakers to improve quality and production levels.
Qualifications
Preferably completed or currently completing Grade 12 (or equivalent).
Experience
Prior experience as a baker or bakery assistant in a retail environment.
Experience preparing and baking a variety of products such as breads, rolls, and pastries.
Knowledge & Skills
Understanding of food preparation, presentation techniques, and quality standards.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Creative approach to baking.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
